Belstaff Ground Jacket: Everything You Need to Know

Hi guys, Sam here from Michael Stewart Menswear, and today we're going to have a little look at a brand new style from Belstaff. Now, Belstaff is one of the brands that we've probably done for the longest. It has been part of our collection for ages, we absolutely love it, we adore it, so when they come to us and they say, "Look , we're bringing out a brand new waxed cotton jacket", we get very excited. We love the Racemaster, the Trialmaster, and the classics, but anything new from them is always exciting, and we know you guys love it too. So today we're going to have a look at the Ground jacket, it comes in two colours, a fantastic little all-round style. So let's get into it.
Belstaff Ground Jacket: The Basics
So let's get into this little jacket, it is a really, really nice piece that they've brought out, and it's part of Belstaff's sort of whole new look. So they've got the classics, but they're introducing these nice little ranges of casual waxed cotton jackets that, you know, sort of emulate another brand that does things with brown corduroy collars but what you're getting with these is a fantastic quality waxed cotton. It's 6oz so it's not too heavy but it's got all the weather protection that you know and love and of course being waxed cotton as well, it'll age, it'll wear, it's repairable, it's re-waxable, you can really get into it, really wear it and given the right care and attention it will last you a lifetime.
Features of the Belstaff Ground Jacket
So, a few little features on this jacket, starting at the top, you've got the corduroy collar, which is an iconic look for a wax jacket. Nice brass press studs down the front add a nice little bit of contrast. On the inside of there, there is some contrast corduroy as well, and of course, you've got Belstaff's nice little zip, which you know, matching brass, feels really, really good and chunky, definitely a reliable zip which we love. Pocket-wise wise you've got their iconic slanted map pocket, so this is emulating their motorcycle heritage, a little bit like what you'd see on the Trialmaster, and then two pockets on the side seam just to keep your hands warm. It's lovely and soft in there as well. And speaking of linings, you've also got Belstaff's iconic checked lining as well. It's the same on both colours, just distinctive Belstaff through and through, and to top it all off nicely, of course, you've got the badge on the arm, got to get the badge in, Belstaff's badge is so tasteful, super classy, and you just know it's a sign of absolute quality.
How Does the Ground Jacket Fit?
So when it comes to fit, the Ground jacket is regular fitting, and it's nice and comfortable. I'm wearing a medium, I'm a 38 chest, sort of about 75 to 80 kilos depending on what I ate at the weekend, and er yeah, it's got plenty of room in here. Zip it up over a t-shirt, and it's going to look nice and smart, but there's still a nice little bit of room under here. Wear a hoodie, wear a Belstaff half-zip, it would look absolutely class with one of those, you can really layer it up, which makes it ideal and super, super versatile. Being 6oz, you can definitely wear it in spring, you can wear it in autumn when things you know, aren't that cold, but by all means you can layer it up when it gets to winter time, and this jacket will see you through the entire year, come rain or shine.
What Colours Do We Stock?
So the Ground jacket that we stock at Michael Stewart Menswear comes in two colours, you've got the black as I'm wearing, or the faded olive as you can see on my friend here. Two timeless colours, super easy to style, you know these are going to go with absolutely everything that is in your wardrobe. And, if you want to really go for the full Belstaff look, a great addition is as I'm wearing here...this is the Phoenix logo cap, but in the same waxed cotton as the Jacket. So it's a waxed cap, bit of extra weather protection, great for the sort of autumn-winter seasons, nice corduroy under the trim, so black matches black, and of course, couldn't let my friend here go without one as well, faded olive to match the faded olive to go for the full Belstaff look. Whether or not you want to go matchy-matchy, the cap is a fantastic little piece, great price, we had these last year, and they absolutely flew out.
