Hey guys, Sam here from Michael Stewart Menswear. Now today I'm in our lovely store in Selby, and we're talking about a fantastic outerwear brand. Now, not all coats and jackets are made equal. Look, you can pick one down the market for next to nothing, but will it give you the protection - and the style and the comfort that you need? Look, probably not. But today we're talking UBR.
Now this is a brand straight out of Norway, straight out of Oslo. It is absolutely fantastic. We've got it in for a couple of seasons. We always bring it in just for winter. We're getting into the season, and now is the time to get these wonderful, wonderful jackets. There are a few repeat styles because they are just so good. We're going to run through all the little features of some of these amazing jackets. Let's get into it.

UBR Bolt XP Down Jacket Breakdown

Okay, let's start with the UBR Bolt. This is this guy at the front of the rail here. Let's try him on. We'll see what it's like in real time. Okay, first impressions. It's nice. It's comfortable. Now, this jacket and I think it's going to be the same for all of these. They're not super big. They're not oversized. They're not made for layering particularly because with this, especially being down filled, you don't need, you don't need the layers. It's warm enough as it is already. It's a nice fit. It's snug; it's comfortable, but in the best way possible. It's got a really great two-way zip.
A few different ways you can wear that there. Little pockets, detachable hood. Do you know what? Smart. I like it. It's comfortable. Now, with all these jackets, the tech sheet on them is absolutely insane. I can't remember it off the top of my head. Let me pull up a few of the key features here. All of this information, by the way, is on our website, or if you're coming to the store, of course, the cat is able to tell you everything you need to know. There's so much. It's got what's known as a membrane fabric on the outside; it is waterproof. It's going to keep you nice and dry. All of the seams are taped or sealed or welded; there's going to be no ingress of water through these seams here.
Again, it's just adding to that really, really, really great waterproofing that UBR are so good at. It's breathable, so it's not going to seal you in. You're not going to be sweating in it. You're still going to be nice and comfortable. 90-10 split goose down. So again, that's adding to that lovely, lovely Detachable hood, which is fantastic. It's got polar tech lined fleece pockets. So in here, nice little bit of fleece work in there just to keep your hands nice and warm. And as well, the lightness is fantastic. It's 750 grams for a jacket. That's going to do all the work. That's super, super heavyweight; another brand would do. So the bolt, what a great way to kick off.

UBR Regulator Coat: Everything You Need to Know

Okay, so next up, slightly different style. This is what's probably known more as a business coat. It's going to look great over a suit. Definitely something you can dress up a little bit more. And that is the UBR Regulator coat. A little bit of a Mac sort of style. It's not down-filled. It's got a, that's a light fill. It's got a little bit of padding. It's not as heavy as the bolt. It's definitely a bit more transitional, but it's definitely going to see you through sort of spring, definitely wear into summer. Autumn is going to be absolute winter for an early winter. This is still going to hold out quite nicely.
Now let's get to this already interesting little feature: magnetic closure on the placket, which is quite different. Nice and neat. No press studs or unsightly buttons keep the lines really, really, really clean. Again, this is a size medium in the navy colour. And already feels great. Super, super lightweight, very, very comfortable, fitting really similar to the Bolt, to be honest, nice and easy. Again, it's got that lovely two-way zip feature as well.
Now, if you like to wear it, it's a bit more comfortable. You can do it all the way up. You can see already just by looking at it; it's a little bit smarter, it's a little bit cleaner. You can definitely imagine wearing this over a nice suit. It's not gonna look out of place. It's a proper city jacket is this one. Definitely gonna keep you comfortable, steady away if you're on the tube, public transport, jumping in and out of buildings. Nice four-way stretch is gonna keep you flexible and comfy. Now again, let me get the spec sheet up. Because, like all these coats, it is absolutely endless. So comes in a slim fit, but you know, it's fairly regular. I would say it's not skinny. So you're all right there.
Again, the same level of waterproofness as the Bolt. It's going to keep you dry. It's breathable, with sealed seams completely covered everywhere. No water ingress, and only 500 grams on this as well. Again, super, super lightweight, easy to use, easy to wear. We've also got the collar, which has a reflective strip along the back, so great if you're walking around at night or you're going out and about; these guys have already thought of pretty much everything.

UBR Regulator Parka: What makes it Different?

If you like the look of the Regulator coat, but you think you want something a little bit heftier, a little bit heavier, something that's going to see you right in the thick of winter, then worry not, UBR have thought about that. They have the Regulator parka. Now this guy is down-filled. He's definitely got a lot more heft to him. This one comes in black this season. It's their best-selling parka. It is a style we've done a couple of times now. Let's get this on and see what we again, I've got to say, hats off to UBR. Their fitting is absolutely consistent. You could pick up any of these jackets. If you know you're a medium, you're a medium for all of them. This thing fits immediately and fits very, very well.
Obviously it's a little bit longer than the bolt. It hasn't got all the sort of, like, baffle quilting. It's definitely sort of more of a business-style jacket, a little bit cleaner, a little bit more simplified in its design, but lovely and warm nevertheless. A few features recur on this one. We've got the polar fleece-lined hand pockets. We've got lovely hand warmer pockets a little bit higher up as well. Also fleece-lined. Fans of Barbour will know this is an incredibly comfortable hand position, especially if you sat there, stood there waiting for something out in the cold. You're just not going to feel it in this jacket. So very, very comfortable, exceptionally good-looking, and a nice steady fit as always.
But let's just get into the spec sheet again. There's plenty to talk about with this one. Let's have a nice little look here. Again, membrane on the outside; it's waterproof. The water's not getting in; the seams are sealed, no water ingress here. Thank you very, very much. 950 grams on this one as well. It is the heaviest we've got so far, but really it doesn't feel like you're wearing all that much, especially for the level of protection, warmth and comfort you're going to receive.
Special features: the hood on this is removable as well, so if you really want to sharpen it up, really give it a nice clean look, pop the hood off; it's going to look very, very, very smart. And it does say in here, there is... Some extra little pockets, so nice practical little jacket on both sides. Two interior pockets, great for an ID or whatever, really. And there are also some internal adjustments. If you do want to cinch it in a little bit, UBR rather than adding buckles and buttons and bulkiness to the outside, brought it on the inside, a little bit of adjustment, nice and easy. You can slim it down and get that lovely comfy fit if you must.

The Main Event: UBR Redox Parka D Jacket

Okay, last but not least, we have probably the big daddy of the collection. This is the Redox Parker. Definitely something- I say heavyweight- it's still really, really light, but out of the jackets, it's definitely the heaviest. It's definitely got a nice bit of bulk to it; it's got some good down fill, but it's still super, super clean, super minimal in profile, dead easy to wear.
It's got a slightly longer parker length, similar length to the Regulator Parker, but let's get this one off the hanger; let's get it on and have a little look first of all inside. You can see that's where all your down quilt is that's where all your comfort is few things to note as well lovely soft inner collar this as well also lined down filled super super warm a hunch is that the medium will fit well, let's stick it on anyways and give it a try. It is the first time I've tried this jacket on yeah comfortable nice warm hook lovely little jacket I mean you're not going to be cold in that are you really I mean if you are you you're in the Arctic or something that's pretty good I think that's a good that's a good little segue into the fact that all these jackets have been designed in Scandinavia in Norway if anyone knows cold it's those guys it's been made with that in mind and then you know here in England or perhaps wherever you are. It's never going to be that bad, is it really? So definitely plenty of jacket bang for your buck.
You could take this anywhere, and you're going to be lovely, lovely warm. Again, like everything else, breathable membrane fabric is waterproof. Yes, the seams are all taped; they're all sealed, they're all welded. There is no water getting in here at all. It has that patented goose down known as white heat. Lovely goose down filling on this. It's going to keep that heat in, but let you breathe; you're not going to be sweating. You're not going to be sweltering. You're going to be just right protected from it. Lightness: 1,100 grams. So again, heaviest of the lot, but really there's nothing to it. It's super, super comfortable. Hood: you can really clean up the look if you want. Did just notice earlier, slightly magnetised as well. They love using these magnetic fastenings on all their UBR jackets. It just cleans it up. It gives it a nice satisfying snap as well. The usability is quite fun. It's really, really nice.
We've got Polar Tech handwarmer pockets, of course, internal pockets to keep all your stuff safe. The pockets are all zip-closed as well. Any valuables, they're not going to go missing. They're not going to fall out. You're going to need to search around for them. Tailored fit, as with the rest of them, they're all slightly tailored, but somewhat true to size. They're not too bulky. They're your size, cut to your fit, which is out. As for the last of the jackets, this is an absolute beast. Super, super comfortable. You just know you can be well protected. In the dead of winter, when that finally decides to arrive. And there we have it.

Things to Take Away

That is UBR for autumn and winter 26 in a nutshell. Now the best thing is this video doesn't just expire at the end of this season. These jackets are what we'd call evergreen. They come back time and time again. The bolt's an old favourite. The regulator is great. The regular Parker, again, fantastic on him for a few seasons now. Redox is new for us. You always have to have a bit of newness. But these are styles that don't ever change. Because really, they've hit the nail on the head the first time; they've got it right, and they've made a collection here of fantastic jackets.
They're comfortable, they're lightweight, they're breathable, they're waterproof, they're packed full of more technology than I can even begin to understand.
If you're into your sort of tech wear, you're into sort of techy things, then I mean it's a fantastic jacket. If you want a jacket that can perform really, really well, it's a fantastic jacket. If you want a jacket that looks great, it's a fantastic jacket. It does everything that a jacket should do and so much more. Is it an investment piece? Yes, absolutely. These things come at a premium, but they are absolutely quality. And all of our other customers who've bought these last autumn/winter, the autumn/winter before, can attest to just how good they are. And yes, they've even come back in to get a different colour or a different style. UBR, it's not that well known. It should be. It's getting bigger. It's getting better. It's a fantastic jacket. The whole collection is great and available online now, or by heading to our Selby store. That is all from me. We will catch you on the next one.
