Barbour Corbridge Casual Jacket: Everything You Need to Know
When the weather turns warmer, reaching for a heavy waxed coat can feel like a chore. However, for those of us who have lived in the rugged, tailored silhouette of the Barbour Corbridge Wax Jacket all winter, letting go of that sharp utility look isn’t easy.
That is exactly where the Barbour Corbridge Casual comes into play. Available at Michael Stewart Menswear, this jacket is the lightweight, 100% cotton answer to Barbour’s iconic winter heavyweight. It retains every bit of the "engineered" DNA that made the original a bestseller—the four-pocket military aesthetic, the stand collar, and that signature slim, tailored fit—but swaps out the heavy wax for a breathable, garment-dyed finish.
In this review, we’re diving into why this unlined, "lived-in" style is becoming a staple for the spring/summer season.

Hi guys, Sam here from Michael Stewart menswear. Now, when the spring-summer season starts to come around, from Barbour, we start to see their casual iterations of their wax jackets that we love so much, which we see all through winter. So, this style today that I'm going to go through is no different; it is the Casual Corbridge, so it is a lighter-weight, unwaxed cotton version of the usual Corbridge that we have done a review of in the past. So, let's have a quick look at this, very recognisable. It's a great style for summer, and we've introduced it this season in a brand new colour, so let's check it out.
Features
So, casual Corbridge, now if you see ‘casual’ in front of anything to do with a Barbour jacket, it's probably going to be a lighter-weight cotton version, unwaxed, just as simple as it gets, but it still holds that iconic silhouette of the jacket it's named after. So for the Corbridge, you’re getting the same nice, tailored fit, the same sort of field jacket style with the four pockets, two on the chest, two on the bottom, and of course, it’s always going to be adorned with Barbour’s fantastic brass hardware and little details that really just make it a Barbour jacket. But, being just a simple cotton, unwaxed, lightweight, it's easy to wear, it's easy to layer, and it makes it ideal for the spring-summer season. That's why they reintroduce it, that's why the colours are nice and light, it's not as heavy as a wax, it's not as heavy going colour-wise as a wax, so it makes it ideal for a nice seasonal layering piece.
What Colours Does the Corbridge Casual Jacket Come In?
In terms of colourways for the past few years now, we've always stocked this nice beige sand colour, it's almost like a safari-esque jacket, super great for the season, but this year we've also introduced the navy blue. Now, in both of these, these are garment dyed, so basically this thing is manufactured to the finished degree, and then the whole garment itself is dyed at once. Now, from getting that, you get some lovely wear, you get some lovely patina, you get some lovely fading, it really makes each jacket unique and gives it that softer, more relaxed lived-in feel, which really works for the summer season. Now, personally, I love the contrast of the brass buttons on these. The subtle Barbour stitching to the pocket on both, it's all tonal, but really easy going and again, to hang it on a coat hook, you've got just a simple Barbour logo there as well. It's not shouty, it's just effective, it looks and feels like a Barbour jacket, it's just lightweight cotton, dead easy to wear, dead easy to style.
How Does the Corbridge Casual Jacket Fit?
Fitwise, this thing is not too dissimilar to the usual Corbridge. It is a slimmer fit. I'm wearing a medium just over a t-shirt and to be fair it fits absolutely ‘bob-on’ for me being sort of five ten, sort of 75 kilos, this fits really, really nice over the t-shirt, probably wouldn't want to layer too much under here, I think it’d get a little bit bulky but I'd say pretty much true to size. If you do want to go for something a bit more oversized, a bit more relaxed or if you do want to layer it, then maybe just go up one size as well.
Things to Take Away
There we have it, this jacket really just does what it says on the tin. It is a Corbridge, but it's just been made far more casual. It is the perfect piece for spring and summer, a great little jacket, these ones always fly out, and now we've introduced it in the navy, which, to be fair, is a colourway you can never go wrong with. I'm sure they're gonna be just as popular this year as well. So, make sure you get on it, be quick, have a look at them, check them out online or pop into the store.
