Hi everyone, Sam here from Michael Stewart Menswear. Today, I'm excited to dive into one of my all-time favourite brands: New Balance. These trainers are truly fantastic, so I'm going to break down each style, share some history, highlight design features, showcase a few colourways, and do an unboxing so you can discover what makes this footwear brand exceptional. Let's get into it.

The History of the New Balance 574

So, I thought there would be no better place to start than the iconic, one of the most original styles, and that is the 574, it's probably one of the most recognisable shapes that New Balance do. Now these were actually designed and based on a model from 1988, so it's really got that retro, vintage runner look.

It was a technical trainer, but as it's evolved, it's become more of a fashion piece. New Balance has introduced these in some fantastic colourways, but what you're always gonna get from the 574 is a great mix of materials, so we're talking suedes mixed with mesh, some really nice, rich leathers as well. But you're always going to get a lovely cushioned midsole, and again, the pops of colour on these are fantastic. This is the colourway shoreline, I mean that blue and burgundy, it's iconic, it looks absolutely fantastic, super clean, super crisp, super fresh.

New Balance 574 in Slate Grey & Rain Cloud

Let's have a look at another pair we've got in stock, this is the slate and rain. Not sure where the rain comes in but again you can see where they've got this beautiful, hairy suede across the back, a nice little plastic on the heel clip and of course inlaid with a leather 'N', they're just absolutely iconic, I just, you really can't go wrong with it, I'm actually quite in admiration of New Balance, of how they can actually generate timeless colourways on a timeless style that hasn't changed for years but they still keep it looking fresh, looking nice.

New Balance 574 in Black & Blue Agate

Let's have a look at a couple of more that we've got in, this is the black and blue, so again something a little bit punchier, this is mainly suede, all suede on the top, this sort of inner panel which is usually mesh, they've done that in a contrast grey suede, so mixing up the materials a little bit and again these nice little pops of blue on there. Super super comfortable, but what you're still getting is that iconic silhouette, but really comfortable cushioned midsole, nice bit of cushioning around the heel and the sides, so you can wear these all day long. I often do, and my feet have no complaints.

And lastly, the ones I've got here, again following on from those black ones, these are all suede, nice little pop of green on there as well, just absolutely iconic. This trainer is around and has been around for years, and I believe firmly that it will remain to do so. It just looks fantastic, crisp, clean, perfect. What more do you want?

Things to Take Away

574...it's one we're going to keep doing and always do. We're going to try and bring you some of the best and most exciting colourways because for me that's what New Balance is all about, everyone's got a black pair, everyone's got a grey pair but something like this, this is seasonal, it's different, it's exciting and we're going to keep it switching up from season to season so you've got to keep an eye in store and online to keep tabs on these fantastic new trainers.
