Should I size up in the Barbour Corbridge?

We recommend that all of our customer that they should size up from their usual size to allow for extra room for layering, whether it be a piece of heavy knitwear or a gilet. Unlike generous styles like the Border, the Corbridge has a very slim fit that is tailored in the shoulders and torso.

Can I zip a liner or attach a matching hood to the Corbridge jacket?

No, the Corbridge jacket is not compatible with Barbour’s zip-in liners or attachable hoods. This is because the jacket features a built-in 50g quilted wadding lining for insulation and has a roll-up nylon hood hidden away inside the corduroy-lined funnel collar.

Is the Corbridge Jacket warm enough for winter?

The Barbour Corbridge is an ideal winter jacket thanks to it’s 2 inch box-quilt lining and 50g wadding for insulation. Combined with its 6oz Sylkoil outer, it handles winter days like a breeze. Though you will need a jumper underneath if temperatures drop below zero, so make sure you size up for extra layering room.

What is an "Action Back" and why does the Corbridge have it?

Due to the Corbridge being so slim-cut, Barbour added the feature of an action back (pleats or extra folds of fabric built into the back of the shoulders) to prevent the jacket from pulling tight across the shoulder blades when you raise your arms.

Is the black version a deep matte black or does it have a sheen?

As the Corbridge is made from Sylkoil wax (which is unshorn and kept close to its natural state) rather than a highly polished "Thornproof" finish, the black Corbridge has a rich, matte finish. Over time, as the wax flexes and creases, it develops a beautiful, rugged patina rather than staying a shiny black.
