How does the Game Parka sizing compare to standard Barbour jackets?

This is the number one question our customers ask us about the Game Parka. Unlike traditional, relaxed-fit Barbour models like the Beaufort or Bedale, the Game Parka features a true slim fit. Furthermore, the thick internal fleece lining significantly reduces the internal room, prompting most of our customers to ask exactly how many sizes they need to go up. Most of our customers who only need a light layer tend to go one size up, whereas our customers who plan on heavy layering with a gilet and knitwear may need to go up two sizes.

Should I size up in the Barbour Game Parka, and by how much?

Due to the internal padding and slim cut through the chest and shoulders on the Barbour Game Parka, we recommend all of our customers size up by at least one full size when buying this jacket. If you are looking to layer heavy knitwear underneath, you may want to size up by two.

Is the Game Parka fleece lining removable?

If you already own a Barbour jacket your are more than likely familiar with their zip-in liners that can be removed to transition with the season. When it comes to the Game Parka, the lining cannot be removed, nor can the hood. The jacket is specifically designed to be a winter jacket and is not a transitional piece. Please note the Game Parka is also not compatible with the zip-in liner collection.

How warm is the Game Parka compared to the Barbour Bedale or Ashby?

While most Barbour wax jackets are notorious for being cold on their own without a zip-in liner, the Game Parka is a heavy winter jacket. Our customers frequently ask about the Game Parka's temperature rating, and thanks to its heavy fleece lining in the body/hood and the insulated polyamide lining in the sleeves, we can confidently say it's built to handle sub-zero temperatures and high winds.
