PS Paul Smith AW25 Collection Review
Every time a new collection is released, there is a lot of excitement, and PS Paul Smith's Autumn/Winter 2025 lineup is no different. Sam from the Michael Stewart Menswear team gives us an in-depth review of some of the key pieces that characterise the collection's carefree aesthetic. The review looks into why these pieces are going to become essentials in any modern man's wardrobe. Hi guys, Sam here from Michael Stewart Menswear, hope you're well, and today we're going to have a look at Paul Smith. It's a brand we're in our second season with it now, the autumn winter is coming in and it is looking absolutely fantastic and what we want to talk about is some of their absolutely core basics, some of their 'never out of stock' stuff and the styles that you're going to see time and time again in some fantastic seasonal colourways. I just want to talk to you about what they are, the fabrics, the fit, the feel, and just how versatile this fantastic brand can be. So let's get into it.
PS Paul Smith: The Basics
So first and foremost, I just need to explain what the collection is, so this is the PS Paul Smith. Paul Smith has two lines, Paul Smith itself and then PS Paul Smith. You can always tell the difference because usually the PS collection incorporates the zebra, so on all these pieces you're going to see this lovely patch, really nice to identify the brand with, super, super tasteful, and it's still got that playful edge that Paul Smith absolutely loves to lean into.
Paul Smith Polos
So first and foremost, let's start with probably what is one of our biggest categories across all our brands, across all our entire store, and that is polo shirts. So, as I'm wearing this, it's the pique cotton polo, it's a lovely soft pique cotton, dead easy, dead relaxed fit, nice and regular actually, that is a theme you'll find running through all of the Paul Smith collection. A lot of the stuff it's regular fitting, it just fits normal, which is absolutely perfect, super easy to style, super easy to wear. Now, what you're going to get with this, well, here it is in the seasonal, nice little dusty blue colour, you're gonna get just a really, really classic plain cotton polo that's super versatile, easy to wear, easy to style. As I mentioned before, you're going to get the zebra badge on the chest, a nice little two-button placket as well, so dead casual with a little bit of contrast just around the inside of the collar, just to make it pop, make it a little different. It's subtle, it's easy, it's a core basic and comes in a variety of colours. It is essential for your wardrobe.
Paul Smith T-Shirts
Next on the list, t-shirts. Now, if polo's aren't quite your thing and you prefer a crew neck tee to layer underneath, a shirt, or an overshirt, then Paul Smith again has got you covered. Here we have their crew neck cotton tee, again 100% cotton, lovely and soft, nice little stretch to it, super, super easy to wear. This again is a seasonal colour, but it comes in navy, it comes in white, it comes in black, it comes in all the colours that you want, but we're always going to throw in some of these seasonal colours because these are the exciting ones and these are the best ones for the season. Zebra embroidered onto the chest, a little bit of contrast in the collar, regular fit, good to go.
Sweatshirts from the Paul Smith Collection
So, next on the list...sweatshirts. Now again a massive category for us, hoodies, half-zips, crew necks, we do them all from Paul Smith, they come in a variety of colours but again you're going to get a nice simple, core basic, zebra logo to the chest, nice bit of hardware if you go for the zipped option, the hoodie, usually maybe has a contrast little sort of draw cord, the inside of the hood is sometimes contrasted as well. Ribbed cuff, ribbed hems, nice steady fit, snug, nice and easy but also regular in the torso as well, so it's not too slim, dead easy to layer over a polo, over one of the crew neck t-shirts, super, super simple, and we do them in a variety of colours as well. You can go core black and navy, we're always going to stock a bit of that, and then we've got the seasonals as well, the blues, the reds, the greens, they always bring out a fantastic palette each season, so always keep checking to get some nice updates on your rotation of sweats.
Essential Knitwear from Paul Smith
OK, if sweatshirts aren't quite your thing, if you find them a little bit too heavy, or you want something a little bit more sophisticated, then you can go for something from their cotton knit collection. So we do a couple of styles from this, we do the half-zip, which is the seasonal Bordeaux colour. Nice stretch, 100% cotton, regular fitting, easy to wear, you know it does replicate and sort of match in nicely with the sweats, but a little bit lighter, a little bit thinner, but a great layering piece. Or if half-zips aren't your thing, then we can absolutely go for one of these, and that is the crew neck, again, same cotton construction, a nice lightweight knit, perfect over a shirt, over a t-shirt, layer it under a jacket. But what's nice about the crew neck is, it has a little bit of contrast tip to the collar as well, just you know, elevates it slightly, makes it a little bit different, but what you're getting is still a regular fit, great construction and quality, and of course, the zebra to the chest.

Things to Take Away
So there we have it, that is my very brief overview of some of the absolute core pieces from the PS Paul Smith collection. Now you're going to see these every single season, they are going to be in the core colours and they're always going to be in those seasonal pops because once you've got a navy one like this, you don't need another one, so get something different, get something interesting, go for one of the seasonal colours, get it into your rotation, honestly you won't regret it. This stuff is great quality, great price, fantastic value for money, and it looks brilliant, super classy, grown up, and suits everybody. Really, we see so many customers come into the store who wear it, young to old, different styles, there's definitely a bit of Paul Smith for them, universally loved.
