International Taxes, Customs & Right of Withdrawal
EU Taxes, Customs & Right of Withdrawal
Orders shipped from the UK to customers within the European Union are subject to import VAT at the VAT rate applicable in the destination country.
All orders are shipped on a DAP (Delivered at Place) basis. This means:
- Import VAT and any applicable customs duties are payable by the customer.
- Payment must be made directly to our delivery partner, DHL, before your order can be delivered.
- DHL will contact you before delivery to arrange payment of any charges due.
At checkout, product prices are shown excluding EU import VAT. An estimate of the VAT and any applicable duties will be displayed at checkout for guidance. These charges are collected by DHL prior to delivery.
Please note that the final amount payable may include:
- Import VAT at your local rate (determined by the country where your shipment clears customs).
- Any applicable customs duties.
- A customs clearance or handling fee charged by the courier.
EU Right of Withdrawal
If you are purchasing as a consumer within the European Union, you have the legal right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days without giving a reason.
The 14-day withdrawal period begins on the day you (or a person nominated by you) receive the final item in your order.
You may exercise your right of withdrawal by completing our online Withdrawal Form or by sending us a clear statement of your decision to withdraw before the withdrawal period expires.
Our online Withdrawal Form is available here:

Upcoming Changes to US Shipping
On 30 July 2025, the US Government announced new customs regulations, effective 29 August 2025.
The duty-free threshold ($800 ‘de minimis’) will be reduced to $0. This means:
All imports will now be subject to duty.
Additional tariffs will also apply, depending on the country of manufacture.
When you shop with Michael Stewart Menswear, your checkout and delivery costs will now show:
- Item price
- Shipping & handling charge
- Duty charge
- Tariff charge
Example:
Items made in France: +15% tariff
Items made in the UK: +10% tariff
A full tariff list is available on the official White House website. These fees will be calculated and displayed at checkout and will be required to be payable to our courier - DHL - before delivery is made.
