Barbour Lowerdale Quilted Gilet in Black

The ultimate layering piece has to be the humble gilet, worn over a light piece of knitwear or under your favourite Barbour wax jacket. The key elements to this gilet are its diamond quilting construction cut in a regular fit, branded two-way zip, branded popper storm flap, and fleece-lined funnel neckline, complete with two flap pockets to the front panels.

PLEASE NOTE Barbour now only stocks the 'NEW' Lowerdale. This style is the same in composition and style but bears a regular fit.

Do I need to size up in the Barbour Lowerdale gilet?

No, you do not need to size up in the new model Lowerdale gilets as they now have a regular fit. We now recommend our customers take their usual size in this gilet or size down one if they preferred the fit of the old model.

What is the difference between the old Lowerdale and the 'New Fit' version?

The main difference between the old Lowerdale and the new ones is the fit. The old model gilet had a very slim fit, to the point that most of our customers had to size up in order to get the model to fit. Now, thanks to the new fit introduced in late 2024, the Lowerdale has a regular fit, and customers can take their usual size. However, the new model does include snap-close side adjusters so you can adjust the waist to the traditional tailored look.

Can the Lowerdale be zipped into a Barbour wax jacket as an internal liner?

The short answer is no; the Lowerdale cannot be zipped directly into your Barbour jacket like the warm pileor polarquilt liner . However, thanks to its lightweight, thin material, it is great to layer underneath a waxed jacket for extra insulation.

Is the Lowerdale gilet waterproof or water-resistant?

The Barbour Lowerdale is suitable for wind protection and light rain showers, but the gilet is not waterproof and should not be used as primary rain protection.

Does the Lowerdale have pockets?

The Barbour Lowerdale has two exterior pockets with press-stud closures and one internal security pocket with a zip, making it ideal for your phone and wallet.
